Today has been a wonderful end to 2010.
A morning yoga session and homemade latte
An afternoon run
Wearing PJs, cuddling on the couch, and watching movies with the fiance
A crock pot dinner (I’m so nervous/excited to see how this turns out!)
Cupcakes and champagne to ring in the new year

In 2009, I signed up for a half marathon. I was 30+ lbs overweight, and figured running would get me in shape, help me shed some pounds, and make me healthier. Between finishing grad school classes and buying a house (coupled with a crazy work schedule), I never ran that race. So I promised myself (and set a resolution that) in 2010, I would become a runner. For once, I stuck to and kept my...
I’m wearing leggings as pants to happy hour. And my hair is in a bun.
I definitley would not have had the confidence to rock this look a year ago. Heck, I wouldn’t had worn it a few weeks ago. But after today’s run, I took notice. My body’s looking good! (Or, a hell of a lot better!)

Things I am Grateful for Right Now:
post-its: I am on an organizing spree at home and at work, and these little gems make my job so much easier. They’re plastered everywhere (my calendar, my day planner, my computer monitor, in cookbooks and magazines, and on my refrigerator) and of course, everything’s color coded. Making lists and leaving notes clears the clutter in my brain and...
It takes 50 emails per day to stress out the average person (Women’s Health, November 2010).
My first work-related email came at 10:42am today.
I’m thinking this may be a stress-free day?
Things I learned on my run today:
The trail behind my house was in much better shape than the roads. It was plowed, salted, de-iced, and made for perfect running conditions. The roads? Not so much - they were so slippery!
Running through a few inches of snow is just like running on sand. It’s exhausting and makes for a killer workout.
I have the opposite running mentality of my dog. He...

Eeeeek. Looking at my calendar, I just realized - I only worked out twice last week. Hmmm. Gotta change that for this week!
While cleaning out my bathroom closet this afternoon, I found tons of unopened product samples cluttering up the shelves. Instead of rearranging them and putting them back in the abyss of the closet, I pulled out a tray and put them all on my bathroom counter, promising myself to start making use of them. Tonight, I took a bubble bath and treated myself to:
Biore Steam Activated Cleanser
Fig...

– Lauren Conrad (Glamour, November 2010)
I haven’t worked since noon on Thursday, and these last few days have been amazing.
Things I have done:
Organized! (Our linen closets, our bathroom closets, donated three hugs garbage bags of clothes to charity, and cleaned out our kitchen cabinets).
Focused on comfort (I’ve been wearing my glasses for three days straight, I haven’t straightened my hair in days, and I...
Designer jeggings and anthropologie fleece lined leggings? Oh yes. I love that Santa focused on elastic waistbands for me this holiday season.
The fiancé is going out to buy EA Sports Active for our Kinect today. I am staying home and eating cheesecake.
I’m like so overly stuffed, I’m feeling a lil’ fangry right now. (You know, the oppositte of hangry).
I need to stop rolling up my sleeves at work (both literally and figuratively). My cardigans are getting all stretched out.
I’m totally getting scared. My shin has been hurting all day - the kind of pain where it hurts to cross my legs, ‘cause the pain radiates like a shock through my bones.
I’m gonna blame this on running hard (and sloppily) this morning and for wearing heels all day at work. I’m going home to ice and elevate.
Any other suggestions? My shoes are fairly new. Training for my...

Five Things I Am Grateful for Today:
Freshly shaved parmesan cheese - I mean, is there anything better? On popcorn, on salads, with pear, arugula, and balsamic… I’m so mad that a large portion of my life was spent using the green shaker kind of parmesan cheese. What a waste!
Cardigans - I honestly think I wear a cardigan at least five days per week. I have a crazy assortment of...

I think the quesadilla (mmmmm - cheesy goodness!) I had for lunch just pulled me outta the grump I’ve been in for the past few days.
I have big plans for my mom’s country club Christmas party tonight (including a brooch and red! lipstick), so it’s a good thing I’m feeling more festive.
All my presents are purchased, wrapped, and piled neatly under the tree. I’ve booked my days off of work. And tonight I’ll do my requisite baking.
But for some reason, it just doesn’t feel like the holidays.
A recent survey shows that women who play video games get it on more than those who don’t (Cosmo, November 2010).
I guess I should be excited I got the finance the xBox Kinect for Christmas?

What’s the best way to reduce stress in your life?
Make a list of attainable goals for the week and work towards achieving one each day. It all comes down to control: if you’re setting a goal, and it’s a goal that you can meet, you’re going to alter your perception of stress in general.
What specific goals will help?
Notice something good that happened today and tell...
People with neat homes are more active, according to new research from Indiana University.
I totally agree with this. Not only does cleaning burn calories, I also have more energy for cleaning when I’m fitter. And the better I feel about myself, the better appearance I want to give off - for myself, and for my home.
Guess it’s time to straighten up my holiday mess, no?

Even though it took me nearly two hours to get to work today because of snow flurries - not legitimate snow (my commute is usually 20-25 minutes), today is going to be an awesome day.
Why, you ask?
I got into the NYC Half Marathon! (Although I’m not super excited for the Central Park portion, we get to run in Times Square! And along the West Side Highway!). My goal for this is to be 10...
